Study Shows the More You Hang Out with Your Mom, the Longer She Shall Live

Family and good relations with our close family members are of great value in our lives and we all learn about it sooner or later in life. All psychologists confirm that experiencing a healthy relationship with your parents and grandparents is of great importance for the general development in life offering solid mental and physical health.

Death ratio and disability in the older generation depends on the psychological factors such as loneliness according to the latest research of scientists. A person that is feeling alone has no meaningful connection with the people he or she loves and cares. The researchers at the University of California, San Francisco conducted a study on seniors and find out that loneliness takes a great part in the development of decline.

This study was released in Do You Remember:

“Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco found that loneliness plays a large role in the decline so often associated with old age. The study followed 1,600 adults, with an average age of 71 — despite controlling for socioeconomic status and health, the lonely consistently held higher mortality rates. Nearly 23% of lonely participants died within six years of the study, as opposed to only 14% of those that reported adequate companionship.”

Other study from the Public Library of Science reveled that not enough social interaction doubles the chances of death in elderly. According to this study, as a result of loneliness: “…the increased mortality risk is comparable to the death risk of smoking. Loneliness is approximately twice as dangerous as obesity.”

Another two studies that were conducted on the behavior of 5th and 6th graders revealed that the children who had a close relationship with their mother had better social life meaning they were more accepted by their peers, experienced more reciprocated friendships and thus felt less lonely. In addition to this, they were more responsive and less critical in conversation contrary to the children who had insecure relationships with their mothers.

Hence, having positive relationship with your mother and father will be of great value in your life, and if that is not the case, the negative experiences can lead to stress and irritation.

Try to be positive, and enjoy the company of your parents by doing things that you all love. This would be a solid basis for your overall health and provide you with good memories for the rest of your life on which you will look upon with great pleasure.
