This is the most enjoyable season for most people, but the mosquito bites with their high-pitched sound resonating like a vibration in our ears while sleeping is the worst thing that can happen. - Lemon and clove
These insects do not like the scent of the cloves and lemon and that will keep them away in the most natural way. For that purpose, cut the lemon in two halves and then insert in each half around 5 to 6 cloves. Put them on a plate in the room which you want to be free from the mosquitoes.
- Garlic Oil
This oil has the ability to repel mosquitoes due to the content of sulfur. For that purpose, put the garlic cloves in a bowl filled with hot water for 2 to 3 hours and use this solution to spray the edges of windows and curtains.
- Camphor and water
All you need to do is to place 2 camphor tablets in around ¼ cup of water which will be very effective in repelling the mosquitoes. If you need an immediate effect, you can put one or two camphor tablets in warm water that will reinforce the odor making it to spread faster.
- Essential oils
Essential oils like peppermint, rosemary, lavender, geranium, lemongrass, and lemon eucalyptus emit a scent that is extremely repelling for the mosquitoes. Choose the essential oil that you prefer and then place it in a diffuser leaving it to act in the room.
- Carnivorous plants
There are plants that can also repel the mosquitoes in your home and because of that you should have them in your house. Plants like purple grass, Fly Dipper, pitcher plant, and squirrel are effective at removing mosquitoes from your home.
- Anti-mosquito plants
There are also other herbs that can effectively repel mosquitoes. Mosquitoes do not like basil, rosemary, lemongrass, or fragrant geraniums.

- Animals that are natural predators
Nature is a connected food chain and the natural predators for mosquitoes are the birds, therefore you should attract their presence in your garden. Bird species like Black Swallow feed on mosquitoes and other flying insects, so welcome them in your garden.
- Eliminate stagnant water
Mosquitoes breed on stagnant water, so if the surrounding of your home has stagnant water, make sure to remove it. Outer containers usually have stagnant water.
How to treat a mosquito bite?
- Baking soda
Prepare a lotion combined with 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 100 ml of water. In this solution soak a compress and then use it on the area that needs to be treated.
- White vinegar or apple cider vinegar
Dilute the vinegar of your choice in a little water and then in it soak a compress that should be applied on the sting. Thanks to the content of acetic acid, the vinegar will serve as an antiseptic and relieve the itching. Have in mind that the use of organic vinegar is preferable.
- Ice cubes
Thanks to the coldness the itching of the insect bites can get easily soothed.
- Banana skin
Clean the sting with water and soap and on the affected area use the banana flesh skin.
