Chicken in Mushroom and Wine Sauce

This is a delicious dish for every occasion. Surprise your family and friends with tasty dinner prepared from chicken in gravy made from mushrooms, white wine, cheese and cream. The combination of ingredients will certainly satisfy even the picky ones.

Chicken in Mushroom and Wine Sauce


1 pound chicken breasts, boneless

2 cups fresh mushrooms, chopped

1 clove garlic, chopped

3 thyme stalks

1 ½ cup white wine

½ cup flour

½ tsp paprika

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

½ cup cream

½ cup cheese, shredded




Pound the chicken breasts with kitchen mallet. Then cut them in small pieces.

In a bowl mix the flour with paprika and 1 tsp salt. Put the butter and 1 tbsp olive oil in a frying pan on a medium heat. Roll the chicken meat in the spiced flour and then fry for 5 minutes. Put the cooked chicken on a plate.

In the fat, where the chicken was fried add 1 tbsp olive oil, then the mushrooms and garlic. Fry till the mushrooms become brown.

Add the wine, thyme and the chicken meat. As soon as the wine starts to boil, lower the heat, cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the chicken meat from the sauce and place it on a plate.

In the pan, add the cream and cheese. Mix until the cheese melts and the gravy thickens. In case you like to prepare more gravy, after the cheese melts add 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water.

At the end put the chicken back in the pan and mix well. Serve with rice and fresh salad.
