Some Warning Signs That You Might Lack Oxygen in Your Blood

Oxygen is a gas that our planet provides it and our body needs it. It goes throughout our body via the blood flow and in that way every organ and tissue receives its oxygen. The body needs its proper amount of oxygen in order to function accordingly. However, some people lack it which leads to a condition known as hypoxia. Follow reading and find out what it exactly means.

Hypoxia

Hypoxia results due to oxygen shortage in the body that is supplied to every tissue via the bloodstream. This condition can result because of two possible reasons:  lack of oxygen circulating in the blood, or the tissues are receiving it, but cannot assimilate it. Therefore, this condition is divided in several types of hypoxia depending on the reason that causes, and the effect it has on certain body organs.

  • Cerebral hypoxia

This type indicates oxygen shortage in the cells and tissues in the brain.

  • Fetal hypoxia

It is associated with oxygen shortage in the communication with the fetus while pregnancy.

  • Hypoxemic hypoxia

This hypoxia indicates a weakness in the partial pressure of oxygen.

  • Anemic Hypoxia

The red blood cells are the ones that carry oxygen to the organs, cells, and tissues. When the body is being affected by anemia the resulting side effects is lack of red blood cells thus the body does not receive the needed oxygen that results in hypoxia.

  • Circulatory hypoxia

Slow blood flow cannot provide the body cells with enough oxygen at a given time and thus triggers circulatory hypoxia.

  • Cytotoxic hypoxia

There is enough presence of oxygen in the blood, but the tissues cannot assimilate the oxygen.

This health condition needs to be treated as if not it will lead to heart failure, stroke, brain damage, and even coma. It is of vital importance to recognize the symptoms of this disorder in time so that to act accordingly.

Early Signs of Hypoxia

Dr. Aaron Tabor has listed these warning signs:

  1. Headaches

Symptoms like headaches and small migraines are commonly mild symptoms, but when accompanied with a feeling of numbness, dizziness or lack of coordination of movements, then this means that the body lacks oxygen. Oxygen shortage results in build-up of toxins in the body thus generating headaches. Since brain tissues do not receive the needed oxygen for their proper function, you will suffer from a lack of coordination and concentration.

  1. Tachycardia and heart palpation

Beating of the heart at an abnormally higher rate means that the heart tries to pump the maximum amount of oxygen in the body. The higher is the effort, the more you experience the palpitations of an abnormal heart rhythm. If you do not suffer from anxiety, then this symptom should not be neglected.

  1. Feeling weakness

Our muscles are the ones that contribute to the performance of daily tasks. They are made of tissues and if they do not receive enough oxygen you will feel weak not being able to lift some of the grocery bags which was probably not an issue for you before.

  1. Fatigue

It is normal to feel tired after a period of vigorous work or after a series of emotional and psychological challenges. However, in case of a chronic fatigue, it is most likely that you are dealing with hypoxia. For the body the oxygen is it fuel, and when it lacks it you will feel very tired. The performance of your various daily activities can easily make you out of breath.

  1. Breathing issues

Oxygen shortage results in difficulty of breathing. People that are being affected by hypoxia easilyare out of breath no matter if they rest or work.

If you have some of the above listed symptoms, we advise you to visit your doctor so that he can determine the root of these symptoms. It is always better to act in time, rather than to ignore and thus aggravate the condition.
