  • Smoking
  • Age
  • Improper oral hygiene
  • Coffee or red wine intake

These factors along with the inevitable genetics contribute to having yellow teeth with stains and although nothing can replace the regular teeth brushing there is a remedy that can whiten your teeth in the most natural way. It is based on the use of lemon and baking soda.

A Natural Teeth Whitener Treatment

Needed Ingredients:

  • A few drops of lemon juice, organic
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • Little bit of water

Instructions:

Mix the lemon juice with the baking soda and add a little bit of water in order to create a smooth texture resembling a paste. If the texture is not thick enough, just simply add a little bit of baking soda. Do not forget the water as it dilutes both ingredients and thus reduce their abrasive effect.

Once you have prepared the paste take a toothbrush and on it apply the mixture. Brush your teeth as you usually do with your regular toothpaste. After the brushing part, rinse your mouth with plenty of water to eliminate any residue.

Note:

This toothpaste is used only once a week, or once in two weeks. The reason for this is the abrasive effect of the baking soda along with the lemon that can damage the teeth enamel.

People who are obliged to wear a dental appliance are not allowed to use this toothpaste as it will lead to irregular bleaching and disparate teeth.

Prior implementing any natural remedy it is always best first to consult a medical expert.

The benefits of the used ingredients

Lemon is very acidic, and the content of the citric acid can remove the accumulated stains on the teeth. However, it needs to be used occasionally as frequent use can damage the tooth enamel.

Baking soda is a multi-purpose ingredient that is very beneficial when the oral hygiene is concerned. It is comprised of white powder that is biodegradable, non-flammable and non-toxic. It will provide you with white teeth by eliminating the present stains and discoloration of teeth.

As per conducted study by the University Park research center in the United States brushing your teeth with a toothpaste containing baking soda can offer higher efficacy in the removal of dental plaque than the toothpaste that does not have it in its content.

Other study released by The Journal of Clinical Dentistry, confirms that baking soda toothpaste is a great choice for removing stains on teeth and making them whiter. However, it should not be used more than once per week as it can damage the tooth enamel.
