The skin is the largest body organ that protects us from the external factors like bacteria, viruses, pollution and chemicals that we face on daily basis. Although we all have different skin types we need to take good care of this organ like nourishing it properly and keep its health.

Establishing a proper daily routine will protect our skin from skin irritations, or conditions like acne, brown spots or scars. Naturally, there are many cosmetic products available on the market that promise all sorts of rejuvenating effects, but unfortunately in most cases they are fake and most of them are packed with chemical ingredients that can do more harm than good. Therefore, we suggest that you should turn to the use of natural alternatives like baking soda.

The skin reflects the state of our health and performs functions for the human body. It protects us from the outside influence, regulates body temperature, keeps the balance of liquids and controls the loss of moisture. It is a shock absorber warning us of the danger of the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. By reflecting the various sensations of pain we know when we need to protect our body form the external factors.

There are many other factors that can influence the condition of our skin such as genes, hormones, aging, or other health conditions like diabetes. There are also other ones like the unhealthy diet, smoking, stress, dehydration, unprotected sun exposure, frequent washing with hot water, not enough sleep, and some medications that can harm the quality of the skin.

Here are some methods that are based on baking soda that can be very beneficial for your skin.

Oats are present in many skincare products and manufacturers label them as “colloidal oatmeal” which is in fact ground oats. For instance, in 2003 the FDA approved colloidal oatmeal as a protector of the skin. Oats have been traditionally used for ages in the treatment of itching and irritation in a variety of skin conditions.

Here it is how to prepare this mixture: mix equal parts of bicarbonate and water and then add ground oats in amount of 1/6 of the bicarbonate paste. Use it onto your facial skin and apply it by making a gently massage with circular movements. After that wash it off with warm water.

Baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliating agent that will successfully clean your skin from the acne and pimples and at the same time eliminate dead skin cells. It will dry the pimple or acne and at the same time prevent new rashes as a result of its antibacterial properties. The use of baking soda can be helpful in alleviating brown spots.

You need to mix some baking soda with lukewarm water till you obtain a paste. Apply this paste onto the face and after that gently massage it by implementing small circular motions. Let it stand for 10 minutes and after that wash it off with warm water.

Lemon is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C that have the ability to reduce wrinkles and at the same time improve skin’s quality. These constituents are powerful enough o neutralize the damaging effects of the free radicals and help in the production of collagen levels. This fruit can lower the sebum and redness thanks to its drying effect. It can treat inflammatory acne and destroy acne-causing bacteria due to its strong antiseptic properties.

In a cup, combine 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. Next, add lemon juice by filling a quarter of the cup. Combine all of the ingredients, wash your face and use it on damp skin. Let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes and after that rinse your face with warm water.

Lemon reveals photosensitive properties and because of that you should not use it on the skin during the day or before sun exposure.
