The benefits of cinnamon and star anise

It is an amazing spice containing valuable active ingredients like cinnamaldehyde and proanthocyanidines which contribute to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties of this spice. Thanks to these features it can prevent the damage caused by the free radicals, including loss of skin elasticity and oxidative stress cells. In addition to this, it was revealed by many studies that cinnamon can prevent neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Star anise

Star anise or known under the scientific name “Illicium verum” shows analgesic, antimicrobial and expectorant features which are very beneficial in the case of migraines and colds. It contains an organic and aromatic compound known as anethole which provides some of these properties. This compound is common in fennel as well. This ingredient supports the health of the digestive, cardiovascular and biliary system.

The use of cinnamon is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women and also for people who are on a blood glucose or blood circulation treatment. If you overdo with the use of cinnamon and star anise it can lead to toxicity.
