Chocolate dessert is the most favorite one for many people, especially the chocolate mousse. But, we are all aware how caloric these desserts can be and after we have consumed them we have that feeling of guilt. Therefore, in this article we shall present you a recipe of a dark chocolate muss which is free of refined sugar.
This is a light version from the regular recipe of chocolate muss as instead of cow’s milk it is used coconut cream. In addition to this, it contains dark chocolate and agave syrup.
The coconut is rich in fiber and aids in the battle against constipation, plus it regulates diabetes, lowers appetite, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.
This tropical fruit has in its content a lipid known as lauric acid that reveals antimicrobial effect that can hamper the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. This acid is powerful enough to induce apoptosis (death of the cell) in cancer cells.
Both the milk and the cream of coconut are a great source of vitamin B9 (folate) and B3, which take part in the production of the body’s cells and in the formation of DNA.
Chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa is more beneficial for the body and its overall health. Namely dark chocolate is packed with fiber as it contains plenty of cocoa which is of vital importance for good intestinal transit. Dark chocolate is high in flavonoids that are antioxidants highly crucial for the body as they can prevent certain diseases including cancer, cellular aging and cardiovascular diseases. The content of flavonids will lower the bad LDL cholesterol and support good blood circulation.
In addition to all this, this food product has plenty of magnesium which can help in the battle against stress and fatigue. Its consumption boosts the mood and relieves anxiety.
Therefore, in this recipe is used a dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, of at least 85%.
It is a natural sweetener with a neutral taste that makes it ideal for cooking sweet dishes. This syrup is less caloric than the refined sugar, for instance 50 grams of agave syrup equals to 150 grams of sugar. It makes it a great alternative to sugar especially for diabetics, but have in mind that it should be used only in small doses.
