This is classical, and for many favorite cookie recipe from Germany, the Traditional German Honey Cookies go perfectly well with hot cup of tea.
1 cup sugar
1 cup honey
1 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger, ground
4 cups flour
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Melt the shotrening, sugar and honey in a sauce pan, on a medium-low heat. Let it cool completely.
In a bowl, mix the eggs, vanilla extract, baking soda and ground ginger. Slowly add the mixture to the cooled honey mixture. And mix well.
Gradually add flour and mix until blended well.
Arrange by spoonfuls on a baking sheet at about 2 inches apart.
Bake the cookies for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
